A friend of mine recently went to a bridal show here in Nebraska, and a company called Royal Prestige told her that she had won a huge, wonderful gift package. After talking to a few people, she soon learned it was all a scam. Here is an actaul text message convo she had with a representative of the company along with her short expanation:
“Here is a conversation I had with Royal Prestige today over conversation. At Bridal shows, Royal Prestige hands out really nice oven mitts that are black with white polka dots. Do not register with them. The are very rude and they are just trying to scam you. They will say if you get a call from a 515 area code you have won something. They will offer you complimentary wedding bands or a hotel stay wherever you want, his and her aprons, grocery savings and gift certificates. It is too good to be true. Here is the conversation I had with them to day. The XXXXXX number is me. I didn’t want to post my number on the internet.”

12:07pm (515-*******) Hi Kaylin, its Heather with info 4 the show tonight. Holiday inn @ 9th and O and in the University Room, auth# is ******, see you both @ 8:30pm.
12:19pm (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to (515-*******) Okay. But I know this is a bull shit scam.
12:26pm (515-*******) No its not u get all the gifts. No obligation no cost u and ur fiancé just need to attend together.
12:27pm (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to (515-*******) My cousin sat through the same meeting. The guidleies make it impossible to get anything. Annd the reviews on your company don’t help.
12:30pm (515-*******) Then it was not our company. And we have several satified customers that we have had for years. Stuff on internet r peoples opinion and 90% of them have never been to our shows its just hear say.
12:32pm (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to (515-********) My cousin went through… and a classmate… and another classmate. Im not upset with you, just the company. And it’s a red flag when all of these people ik won the same prize I did.
12:32pm (813-*******) Kaylin, I heard what u said about the show so I just want to let you knnow don’t even bother coming to the show because we don’t need the negativity, and I will pass the gifts along to someone else that has their own opinion and not someone else’s. thanks and have a good day.
12:34pm (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to (813-********) Rude.
12:35pm (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to (813-*******) Nice customer service.
12:35pm (515-******) Not won. Selected. Each time we have a show we choose 30 names and invite them to a show to get gifts. If they can not make it we hang on to them and try them next time and select a few more
12:42pm (813-*******) Was not being rude just saying that we ask that u attend the show with a positive attitude and an openmind, we do have some negative people that speak about us,but they don’t get it, if they have never been to a show and if they have they just cant afford anything were not asking u to buy anything its just to let u know who we are and to thank u for taking time out to come to our presentation
12:44pm (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to (813-*******) Telling me to not bother coming and u will give it to someone else who can make their own opinions…especially over text message… is not how you talk to a potential client… rude.
12:46pm U do what u want im done talking about it…
12:44pm (XXX-XXX-XXXX) to (813-*******) That’s fine. But you just made your company look horrible. I am documenting this conversation and letting the appropriate people know what happened today.
