William and Kate decided to start a charitable fund instead of registering for gifts, and a donation to their fund gets you a “thank you” email (www.royalweddingcharityfund.org/faqs.php).
So why is it ok for the royal couple to send “thank you” emails but the rest of us need to mail hand-written notes?
I understand it would be difficult for them to reply by hand to the tens of thousands (if not more) of gifts that they’ll receive, but what about a formulaic letter, or a personalised email instead of the formulaic one I got when I donated?
Anyway, I guess my point is not so much why they didn’t send me a letter, but rather, why don’t we all send emails? It’s better for the environment, we won’t get RSIs, and if it’s good enough for William and Kate why is it not good enough for the rest of us?
