I honestly would have been disappointed it if had been a mermaid dress or a super poofy dress. I think it struck the right note.

@kala_way: Me, too!  A mermaid dress would’ve been all wrong in terms of scope.  She’s a bitty little thing to begin with, and a form fitting dress would’ve made her seem even tinier in the enormous church.

Poofy and blingy… That’s been done.  And it would’ve been, I think, completely tone deaf.

The top is actually exactly what I pictured it to be, clearly with such a classy even I knew she would be covered and assumed it would be with lace. The deep neck line keeps it young though. It suited her, definitely not a dress I would wear myself. It suited her style though, when I first saw it I thought “Yep, that seems right”.

It’s not what I would have chosen for my own wedding….but then, I didn’t have generations of royal traditions to contend with and the whole world watching my every move :-P. Under the circumstances, I thought it was beautiful. Simple and classic, not overdone (personally, I thought Diana’s dress was ridiculous, even for a princess) but still elegant.

I loved the top but I wasn’t a huge fan of the bottom. I get that it’s classic and I’m sure that’s what she’s going for but I was kind of hoping she’d go with something a little less ballgowny. I realize that statement is ridiculous considering she’s becoming a princess but whatevs.

I didn’t vote because I loved it for a Royal bride (who has to be pretty modest) but not for me.  Gorgeous!  And the less made it way more fun and a little sexier than the last few Royal brides.

Her dress is very similar to ones I was interested in getting way back when. My mother at the time threw a fit everytime I tried on lace covered sleeved dresses, “why are you doing this to me? You look so old, these are not for women in their mid-20s, sleeves?!” Sorry, I like lace, I like vintage-esque, I like not worrying about my cleavage.

This morning? Texts from my mom: OMG I love her dress, its so elegent and classic.

Kate’s dress, I thought, was more classic, vintage-inspired and conservative than contemporary or frilly.  It looks very similar to the wedding dress Princess Grace of Monaco wore at her own wedding.  It’s a refreshing contrast to a lot of the popular strapless gowns in the market; her dress is more modest, dignified and fitting for a royal wedding at Westminster Abbey. Actually, she would look just as stunning and regal in almost any gown….Cheers!
