My wedding is in late May and I wanted to order the invitations from Zazzle (I really liked the Save the Dates from Zazzle) However, I am unsure what to do about the RSVP cards because I haven’t even made the meal selections yet. What options are there for RSVP cards and if so, when do you think they need to RSVP for a May 26, 2013 wedding?

Basic timeline seems to be to send your invites out at the 2-month mark with an RSVP deadline of around 1 month before the event. This gives time for stragglers who don’t quite RSVP by the date and oyu can still get your final numbers in to the caterer before their cutoff.
As for the mean selections, I think it will be a huge headache for you if you don’t incorporate them into your RSVP card- how else are you going to find out which meal people prefer? So my suggestion would be to try your best to have your meal selections picked out before you send them off to be printed. Even if you give yourself a month to put invites together (which you may need, expecially if you’re doing your own calligraphy on envelopes or adding envelope liners/belly bands/ any other embellishments), that means you don’t have to print till February to get them out by the end of March. Will you have meal choices done by then?

The RSVP deadline is usually about two weeks before your actual wedding. You don’t sent the invitations out until eight weeks before the wedding. Don’t order your invitations yet.

@future mrs Q: Thanks, that’s what I thought (that it would be a headache if we didn’t incorporate the meal choices). We should have the meal choices done by February.
@cmbr: I am going to wait. My Fiance keep sending me all these Zazzle discount offers but there will always be Zazzle discount offers. This way, I can have the RSVP cards printed at the same time.
