I would take it to a post office and ask someone who works there. It isn’t worth the risk of having them all returned to you yell

I think your best bet would be to get new envelopes to be on the safe side. Or if you’d like to double check, go to your local post office and ask the people working there if they would mail it.

My husband is a post master, and he advises against it. Even if you take them to your local post office to ask for permission, the RSVPs will be mailed to you from various post offices, and each of them may handle it a little bit differently. Although some post offices will mail it outright, some may not allow it to be mailed at all, and the most efficient of mail clerks will mail it but add an additional $.21 to each envelope for being “non-machinable.” As a result, you may end up spending more than the new envelpes would cost you and you will not be able to trust that you have received all of your RSVPs.

Also, you should be aware that the minimum size is based on the machines that sort the mail.  Envelopes that are too small tend to get lost/destroyed.

Hope this helps you with your decision. Best of luck to you!

If they are cute little special envelopes could you give them a larger plain envelope to put it in??

Go ask the post office.  They have minimums for a reason, and you don’t want your responses torn up by machines because they were too small to fit.

kristin36890 :  get new envelopes. Even if the postal worker says it’s ok, it’s not. I’ve been told the wrong thing by postal workers A LOT. The envelopes will get lost or destroyed in the sorter.

Not worth the risk of having them destroyed/lost/requiring extra postage due to size.  I’d get new envelopes.
