Will my guests assume there will be heavier food at my wedding if I have them RSVP? It’s at 2 so hopefully that would clue them in. But are RSVPs just for dinner receptions? I know this is a silly question – I’ve been overthinking the crap out of this entire wedding and it’s exhausting me! 😴

RSVPs are not just for dinner receptions. You may wish to state “light hors d’houevres and cocktails to follow” or otherwise indicate the type of reception so people may plan accordingly.

lilwren : The purpose of an RSVP is for the host to know who is and is not attending. It’s not just for formal evening events!

No you still need RSVPs to know how many people to get food for, how much alcohol to buy, how many chairs you need…
I agree with PP to say “cocktail reception to follow” so people know a meal won’t be served.

I will generally assume dinner is served at a wedding no matter what so it being at 2pm wouldn’t tip me off. I’d definitely want something that says “cake and punch reception” or “light hors d’houevres” or “cocktail reception” to let me know to have a really big lunch.
