My caterer recommended we have guests RSVP chicken or beef. But the issue is we are having a buffet meal, not a served plated. I have never heard of this. My thoughts are what if someone RSVPs chicken, but once they see the buffet, they want beef too. Would you just have 1 serving of each meat for the guest or have them RSVP their choice? Any suggestions are welcome!

Hm, considering you’re having a buffet, it doesn’t make sense to have guests RSVP. I would ask the carterer why they are having people RSVP for a buffet. My best bet is to guesstimate how much to make, but as a caterer, they should already know.

The caterer said to RSVP to know how much to of each entree to make in order to keep the costs lower for us.

I’m going to be honest. People are going to a) not remember what they rsvp’d for and b) eat both because its a buffet and its in front of them. I don’t think rsvping is necessary nor will it actually keep your costs down.

Gotcha. Well, I have to agree with Krises
. It may just end up being a hassle in the end.

We’re doing a buffet and I never considered having guests RSVP with meal choice! I assumed they could have a little of everything. I hope that’s true because I already ordered my RSVP cards. 🙂

If you are serving a buffet, then no you do not ask guests for their meat choice. Everything on the buffet table is up for grabs when they go to fill their plates.
