We are doing a mix of online and inserts with envelopes.  The RSVP envelopes weigh in invitations down and up the postage, so we are trying to do as few of those as possible—just for the more traditional and older guests.  It’s 61 cents to mail, and 44 cents for the RSVP, so we’re looking at $1.05 each just on postage!  Yikes.  Anyone else is getting a card that says RSVP at our website, and those invitiations are just light enought to use a 44 cent stamp.

As expensive as postage can be, I would still send an RSVP card (whether with an envelope or a postcard).  I don’t think people will take an online RSVPs as seriously as an actual piece of paper (mainly because when I think RSVP I think of all of the facebook events where people RSVP yes then don’t show up).  I know you’re not talking about us an FB event, you’re referring to your actual wedding Web site, but I would still be afraid of people not taking it as seriously.  HTH!
