memo:  I agree.  I have totally made etiquette faux pas in the past, simply because I didn’t know. 

If the rudest thing your guests do is ask if they can bring a +1, you’re probably way ahead of the curve.

We invited a couple. They returned the card, adding their 3 kids. We decided to let it slide. Day of wedding – the whole family was a no-show! Paid for 5 dinners for people who were not there.

at least they asked.  i am more peeved about people who don’t return them on time.  or people who make special food requests (not allergies).  or when a single person (not bringing a plus one) marks TWO entree choices.  or people who don’t put their name on the card (though I secretly numbered all of my cards so not a big deal).
