Ugh what a pain in the freaking neck!  We just sent our invites out on Wednesday and I have a feeling we will be in the same boat as you soon.  People didn’t even have the decency to RSVP to our shower so I have a feeling it’s going to be a PIA to get them to respond to the wedding.  You’re right-WTH did I put stamps on the return envelope if you don’t plan on responding?? Seriously?  COME on.  It’s easy and everything is basically done for you already!

@crebre80: aww girl! i totally understand the frustration… both DH’s parents list and my parents’ list were FULL of either no responses/rsvps by mouth… but we sent invites+rsvp+stamps with alllll of them out of “etiquette.” it’s frustrating, but in hindsight it won’t matter and i think your VIP plan is perfect!!! 🙂 we’re here for any other vent sessions u need!

Yes, I could have purchased shares in Canada Post with how much postage I wasted on our RSVP return envelopes.

We were 70% outstanding at our return date, and lots of people just called DH’s parents to say yes or no, which they never passed along the messages to us.

That and we received 10 cards back after the due date that had written in “maybe”.  WTF.

You are nice to pay the return postage!  It’s easy just to drop it in their mailbox if they don’t want to go to the post office!

@crebre80: too funny!  It was my Aunt also that was the first RSVPer.  She was so excited and appreciated the stamp too!

What pisses me off is I pre-stamped them all, no matter how far away or close they lived and I’ve asked a lot of people who haven’t sent them back why I haven’t gotten their RSVP’s “I just figured I’d give it to you when I saw you next…”

……uhhhhh….no? I paid postage for it. MAIL IT BACK DAMMIT.

That and the people in the wedding party not feeling like they need to RSVP because I know they’ll be there. Yes, I know you’ll be there, but I still need to know how many guests you’re bringing so I can have a final count!

I haven’t sent out my invites yet, but all these posts are preparing me for the inevitable.

Honestly, after reading all the complaints I can’t help but think: What is the friggin’ problem with filling out an RSVP card??? I mean, they’re fill-in-the-blanks stupid easy. You write your name and check boxes–why can’t people do that?

I don’t get it.

Diva, sorry about your rsvps. Some people are laz-y.

this is partly why i decided to have people RSVP on  my website! not that anyone has of course. but i am having my wedding in Jamaica, so i would think i will be informed when people actually book their plane ticket/hotel…and if i hear nothing, i can assume they are not coming?  i mean who fly to a destination without letting us know they were planning to?!

I feel ya.  I lamented the money I spent on stamps also.  I’m actually of the mind now that stamps on RSVP cards are totally optional!  Most of our RSVPs came by word of mouth, even my close family!  And especially those who WEREN’T coming.  It was like…thanks.
