@Lauren10.8.11:  What if you did Mr. John Doe & Guest ?? That would save time and also save you from using another place card.

Ughh I know – I have had so many people (in my family) ask if they can bring someone, because “Aunt so and so said no, so there’s room).

Clue in. Not your wedding, so you don’t get to choose who comes.

LOL. We are just now getting our RSVPs back, and I tried to make it as brainless as possible (wrote in every person’s name who is invited with a check box “will attend” or “will not attend”). They still have a month to respond, so we’ll see who we have to harass at the end of the month.

I’m feeling the RSVP anxiety too.  Ours are trickling in way too slowly but now you ladies have me worried because I didn’t even ask for people to specify the name of their guest!  I just will make an escort card that states: “John Doe and Guest” The card will have the table number on it too but each couple can sit wherever at that table.

Is this a recipe for disaster???

@sueanddemetrius: We’re doing similar assigned tables but not assigned seats. I think it’s two different questions. If you have under 100 guests, I’ve read that it’s not too confusing for just the assigned tables, but over 100 can get messy. As far as having “John Doe and Guest,” I believe using “guest” goes against etiquette, but I doubt anyone but you would notice or care. 🙂 Most weddings break a lot of etiquette rules now-a-days, so I wouldn’t stress.

ETA: If you’re worried about it, you could always call the folks who RSVP with a guest and ask the guest’s name.

haha …I can relate! I had a person who even added a guest when I did not give him one, and he put “TBD” for the guest and selected “Beef” for them even though he did not have a plus one nor is he dating anyone!

And yes, tons of people never RSVP in time until you start calling or emailing them to remind them. Most people who dont RSVP within the first week, are the ones who will wait till the last minute or else forget and lose the invite and wait for you to ask them again..

….. what makes me furious is that when these other couples were once engaged, they knew how it felt to wait for an RSVP back, but yet they are now doing what they were complaining about before! hypocrites i tell you! hahah

Chase them up, it’s all you can do. And if they still don’t pull their finger out then they should consider themselves uninvited lol

Also getting hitched on September 3rd – popular day 🙂 And YES! still have 8 people that have not responded one way or another and I had RSVP’s due July 1st! It is ridiculous! Feeling the RSVP or lack there of pain!
