I think you have to wait until Aug 8th to start calling. If you put Aug 7th, people will think they have until then to send it in.
I seriously doubt they will all come in by then (because people have no manners), but you have to give people until the deadline.

Yep, you have to wait. FYI, my deadline was set for today and we only have 2/3(!) of the responses (most of which came in the beginning and in the last week). So I think you’ll be getting a ton in the next 2 weeks.

Also remember that for most people, the RSVP date is seen as the last day to put their response in the mailbox. Depending on where you live and where your guests are, RSVPs mailed on August 7th might not get to you until 2-7 days later.

I think it’s okay to send an email a week or so before with a friendly reminder to get the RSVPs in. (That’s what I did… and it seems to have worked, for we only have a few people left and our RSVP date was last Friday).

Our RSVP deadline was June 28th so we stareted calling June 29th — I divided the list up so my fmil, my mom, my fh, and I all each had a group to call. We ended up getting all but one of the RSVP’s in by July 17th. The wedding is now in 15 days and I just put the one that did not rsvp as a no.

If you say RSVP by August 7th it means people should put them in the mail on or before August 7th. I would wait until the following Monday (the 11th) and start calling those who haven’t responded. Calling will get you a sure answer, and people won’t be annoyed because by the following Monday you will have given them more than enough time to respond!
This makes me want to send out my invite MONTHS in advance 🙂
