@aggie2010:  I’ve done something similar to this, we split our guest list into 4 groups based on likeliness to come and the first group figured 90%, the second group 75%, the third group 50% and the fourth group 25%.  We’re trying to figure out if we can justify the 125 person guarantee which makes a huge difference in our price when we’re inviting 160.

This thread makes me nervous though…maybe we’re way overestimating and will wind up paying for people who aren’t there…

We invited 134 and 78 have RSVPed “Yes”. We expected more like 100 — the holiday weekend may be keeping some people from coming, and a lot of people are leaving their kids at home.

@sarg88:  It’s hard to answer this, because with no knowledge whatsoever of what people were planning, I guessed 125 out of the 150 invites. As I got bits of information through family, my guess withered down to about 105, but we ended up with 119 guests from my original estimate of 125….so pretty close?

We had an original guest list of 180 people, knowing that about 10 were courtesy invites. We were expecting somewhere between 130-140 to actually attend (our venue max capacity was 152). Our actual final count was 115 with 3 no-shows. I was actually a little upset because some people I thought wouldn’t miss it for the world (some close friends and somewhat close family) rsvped no, and 2 were no-shows without any explanation or contact made after the wedding.

We invited less than 100 people – somewhere around 70.  Taking into account courtesy invites sent to people who cannot physically attend and those at too great a distance, we figured 45-50 would check the yes box.

We have received less than 20 affirmatives.  We’re pretty much down to not caring if some of our guests want to bring an extra one or two people (i.e., the kids).
