We sent out our invitations early last week. We’ve given the option of either RSVPing via mail or our website. So far, we’re averaging one RSVP back a day (our deadline is March 2.) Is this average? Seems like a really slow response time. Do most RSVPs come in right before the deadline?
Just wondering if this is in any way out of the norm.

That’s VERY normal…we also averaged about one to three a week, and then got a whole bunch right before/at the deadline. And then of course there were the people that just never RSVP’d, who we had to call/email >:(

Okay, that’s what I kind of thought. Man, I hate chasing people down! I already told Fiance he’s in charge of stalking his own invitees when that time inevitably comes. 🙂

From my experience that is not abnormal. We received a majority of the RSVPs the week before the deadline and a lot even after the deadline. You would be surprised how many people never sent them back and we had to track down a week and half after the deadline. Some people were apologetic and some acted like it wasn’t a big deal, i’m assuming because they have never planned a wedding and needed a head count for a caterer. That was probably the worst part of planning for me because i felt like people were extremely inconsiderate! Hopefully you will have better luck then we did!

We got the bulk of them the week of the deadline. A handful in the very beginning, then a serious lull.. .and then BAM! responses galore! …and then, of course, all the late stragglers we had to hunt down with a shotgun….

We got like 1-2 most days from the beginning to the end, then we had to chase 50% of the ppl down. argh.

We’re at the same pace as you- our deadline is next Friday. We’ll see how many we get 🙂

Aw man, you guys! Now I’m dreading having to hunt people down! Our venue not only needs a headcount 2 weeks before, but they need menu selections for everyone as well! Eek! Something tells me I’m going to be frantically taking a lot of orders a week past our deadline.
At least it’s fun checking the mail every day now. Something other than bills and junk mail! 😀

We got a bunch right after we sent our invites. Our high point was seven in a single day. Then, it WAY tapered off until just before the deadline. And even then, they weren’t exactly pouring in. I think we ended up having to contact almost 1/3 of our guest list, as they couldn’t be bothered to return an RSVP card.

Out of curiousity, how many are choosing the mail vs. the online rsvp??
