I did the number code too with the excel sheet. It came in handy because I couldn’t read some of my guests’ handwriting!

Wow, I am about to send out my invitations and I never thought of this.  Thank you so much for bringing the topic up.  I am going to write a number on the back of the RSVP card with a pencil, and match that up to my list.

Thanks everybody

Candi

My family has done the excel spreadsheet number on the back thing before and no one really notices. It works out too in case you’re from one of those families where everyone has the same first name. One one person noticed and responded "I’m delighted to be coming. Thanks for writing my age on reverse." (It was a older man who got a nice number in the 40s.) 🙂

Don’t knock your family Sweeney!  We got our proofs last night, and Fi looked at the RSVP card (the line that says NAME(S)__________) and asked – I kid you not – "What will people write here?"  This man has a master’s degree, and is generally a pretty smart guy.

I told him I had thought they would write the name(s) of the people attending, but given his question, now I have my doubts.

That black light thing works like a charm!  I ordered mine off of ebay and i’m glad I got it.  I just didn’t like the visible number.  And I didn’t want anyone asking "why am I all the way down your list of invites at 253".  hehehe

I wish I had heard about the invisble pen idea before.

We JUST sent our invites out, and I have probably had 3/5 people who have said anything about the invites comment on the number they got.  Including my own mother!

Folks:  I had nothing to do with how much we like you, how soon in planning we decided to invite you, even where you fit in alphabetical order.  It was almost entirely random!

I actually had 2 RSVPs come back without names. One was easy to find since it happened to be done it a green marker. We did a status update on Facebook and within minutes I got a call. The second one was a little tougher, luckily I had a friend tell me she was coming and I had not offically gotten word yet. I asked her a few days after the “due date” and she confirmed she had sent one in – problem solved! Two people never responded but they didn’t show up.

I’ll be mail merging my reply cards so guests’ names are printed directly on there.  It absolutely made the most sense to me.
