@SarahTee:  Well, if she ever does get a ring, be sure to tell her “Ooh I guess you didn’t wait quite long enough”. -_- Or hopefully you never have to interact with her.

@SarahTee:  sounds like she’s dying of jealousy inside. Screw her, don’t let her take your happiness! Delete and move on!

Your ring is beautiful! Don’t let her ruin any of your wedding excitement! 🙂

I have gotten some really rude comments too.  Fiance is an attorney, so naturally people think that I should have some giant rock on my finger, but I chose to have a gemstone in my favorite color instead of a diamond.  He customized it just for me and knowing that he spent so much care into something for me totally erases the idiots out there that think a bigger ring is the only way you should be engaged.

I’ve only been engaged for a little over a week and I have had so many people make comments that I’m about to lose my mind.

One of the older non-married woman that I work with at my part time job has asked to see my ring every time that we have worked together. Now, my ring is currently at the jewelers being re-sized and she knows it. Then when I say, it is still at the jewelers she just goes “Well, its not like you are ever going to get married. So I will see it for awhile.” (This was said because you know, one week after being engaged we have no date set and I haven’t started planning or anything.)

The same lady and a girl who is younger than I am, but just got married herself, were trying to convince me to have a destination wedding. That is not what Fiance or I want. I am literally the first grandchild on my dad’s side to get married and it is very important to me that they are there to see that since 1) they are the only grandparents I have left and 2) my grandmother is sick. Younger girl, who I thought was a good friend of mine, proceeds to tell older lady that I would never have a destination wedding because I need to be the center of attention. I thought I was allowed to have one day where I was the center of attention.

I am convinced that older lady is jealous because she has been with her boyfriend for like 10 years and he has no intention of marrying her and I’m pretty sure the younger one is jealous because my SO bought me a bigger ring than she has (which is bigger than I wanted), I have a full time job, part time job, brand new car and I live by myself and that people aren’t falling all over her anymore since she just got married. I’m pretty sure the younger one is also jealous of the relationship I have with her boss/my best friend and how excited my best friend is that I am finally getting married and how much she is already helping me even though we have no date set.

Moral of the story–you can really see peoples bitterness after you get engaged.

Your ring is lovely! People can be so rude! She doesn’t sound like much of a friend lol. Just because she wants a bigger stone, doesn’t mean everyone should too. You opted for a good-sized quality stone and you love it, that’s all that matters. Forget her!

fact: engagements/weddings/funerals really DO bring out the worst in people. I’ve done the 1st and 3rd already this year and cannot *wait* for after the wedding so I can get back to MAYBE liking people again.

I was buying a pizza and the cashier was a younger girl. I kept seeing this blinding FLASH as she was ringing the pizza up and I had to go out of my way to get a good look at her ring. It was pretty small. I’d say it was maybe 1/4 -1/3 ct but it was the clearest, cleanest, whitest, most GORGEOUS diamond I’ve ever seen with my own eyes. It was set in an equally impressive halo. I asked her the stats on the stone and she told me E-VVS1. Size isn’t everything. She wasn’t grabbing my hand. But she was telling me about how she’d just gotten engaged and she was blushing AND gushing. I swear it warmed my heart. THAT’S what it’s all about. The person who posted that nasty comment on Fbook doesn’t get that. She probably never will.

@SarahTee:  Yeah I wouldn’t ever say anything like that to anyone either. I hope she knows why I barely tipped her. I’ve also had people tell me I’m too young to be engaged (I’m 23 and FH is 24) but I can deal with those comments. I just can’t deal with negative comments about the ring, since I think it’s a reflection on my FH’s tastes as he chose it for me.

Also, we are nearly ring twins!

Wow, what a cow. Some people have no tact whatsoever!! And to do it in such a public way… idiot.
