My engagement ring is a small princess cut solitaire. My wedding band has three small stones that ‘hug’ the diamond on my enagegement ring. They sit so snugly that from a distance it looks like I have one ring on with a very thick band. I’ve had people assume I’m only wearing an engagement ring. When I (politely) correct them I’ve had people get legitimately angry with me because I somehow mislead them. I’ve been told my set looks stupid, is confusing, and that the diamonds are too small (admittedly, they ARE small, but that’s all we could afford).

freckledfrida :  Thanks! I have no idea how people could be so rude. I have had many people ask if it’s real and how much it cost…we’re talking complete strangers! Insanity.

People are whack when it comes to jewellery.

In one week I had someone tell me it was “like a dolls ring”, aka small, and another say “wow watch out you will take a chunk out of someone with that”.

Well, girls, i live in China, Beijing and i hate to say it, but unfortunately  it is normal around here to be rude. When i told my Chinese colleague that  i got engaged, she demanded to see my ring (it is 0,16ct center stone+heart halo, i posted it here before). When she looked at it she said out loud to all other colleagues sitting in the office: “Well, i guess foreigners dont care much about size of the stone, not like us (meaning Chinese), we will agree to be married with not less than a carat, hahaha”

Ta-da!

And of course she and all the colleagues in the office asked me about the price, i dont even count this question as rude anymore… I just answered “i dont know”, because i really dont know (my husband picked it by himself).

I have an acquaintance whom always asks me how much I pay for my jewellery!! And I avoid the question and she will just keep repeating it for at least 3 times and then she must realise I don’t wish to disclose lol. It’s very very rude. Family and friends I don’t mind but they never ask me.

EmeleeRose :  I also love big bling, who doesnt? But it doesn’t give anyone right to be rude on small rings.

I loved my orginal e ring until I had a few comments about how small it was. It really made me insecure about it and I ended up upgrading.

Most people have at least had the decency to pretend to like my ring, which is a traditional diamond ring, but the stone is on the small side compared to some of the people I know (it’s the perfect size for me and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!). However, twice I had someone ask to see the ring, look at it, and immediately change the subject without making a single comment! Unreal…

I didn’t have an engagement ring and I had quite a few people ask me “FI couldn’t afford a ring, huh? Well you could’ve at least gotten a cheap cz so people know you’re engaged.”

Uh…I know I’m engaged and I didn’t want an ering. People drive me crazy. Now I have a plain wedding band and people seem put off that there aren’t any diamonds on it and look almost sad for me! Lol! Maybe once we get an eternity band for an anniversary I will stop recieving looks of pity. Or probably not, in my experience people always find something to complain about. SMH.

Cory_loves_this_girl :  Did you offer to direct her to an opthalmologist since her “eyes weren’t working”? Lol
