Aw 🙁 Hugs, nobody deserves to be judged. It’s a gorgeous ring!!

If I were you, I would review the store on Yelp or TripAdvisor. It would deter others from getting the same treatment. Plus, store owners/managers would typically check peer reviews anyway.

@Mrs_BunInTheOven:  what! That is beyond rude! I wouldve went off on her! I wish a jewelers store person would say somethig rude to me about my ring! But so far nones been dumb enough to say anything other than nice.

Sounds extremely inappropriate!

I love browsing 2 paticular jewelery stores and purchasing things for myself once in a while…and I have been through numerous rude store clerks. I’m a regular customer who gives regular money to this jewelery store and the staff is rude with me?! I think it’s crazy and inappropriate. Maybe people become bitchy working behind jewelery counters over time?…I know my favorite sales clerk doesn’t really feel satisfied by her job…You might not get a high pay and you see people drop lots of money on jewels. 

Anyway, never return to THAT store, please!!

@Mrs_BunInTheOven:  I would phone the store tomorrow and ask to speak with the manager. Tell the manager your experience and why you won’t be shopping at this store when you can afford to spend more.

Ugh we had something similar happen at a local well known place. We went in looking for a band for Darling Husband (FI then), and the guy was just going on and on about my ring, and how theyyyyy don’t require you to come in to have it checked for the warranty. And has it been cleaned lately? It’s such a shaaaaaaame when stores don’t bother to buff it. Basically trying to insult where my ring was bought (and for the record we’ve actually been very happy with the service at our Jared’s). Needless to say they did not get our business.

That’s horrible! I’ve never experienced something like that, but if I did I would be talking to a manager right away (and I would post a negative review online).

That is SO rude of her. Who in their right mind would be so rude to a customer? Do employees not care about customer service anymore? 

If it was a big box jewelry store, I’d be writing an email right now telling them about your experience. 

Always voice your opinion if you have a great experience or an awful experience. Who knows, They could send you a very nice coupon!

I would so call the store and complain to a manager. If its a small privately owned store, I’d ask to speak to the owner too.   


That is so beyond rude and entirely unprofessional.   I have no words for that at all.   


And do a review, because no one should have to be subjected to that sort of treatment.

I’ve had two experiences with the same lady:


Exp 1: Fi and I were first looking at engagement rings. I said I didn’t want anything huge, and something that would be set low since I talk with my hands and am a clutz. I also didn’t want a regular diamond. I wanted something with some colour.

She immediately brought us over to the promise ring section  and started showing us rings that were around 200$. She even said, I’m sure this is more along the lines of what you can afford. 

Fi almost lost it on her. We didn’t end up buying my ring there.

Story 2: I went in to look at some bands. My ring is an odd shape. They actually had something that fit with my ring and of course, the same lady was helping me. She said, “How long have you had your ring for? It is in terrible shape. You really should clean it and have it replated.” Excuseeee me?!  She then followed up with this gem: “You see, the band is much sparklier than your ring because the diamonds are a much higher quality.”

I wanted to smack her. My ring has champagne diamonds in it. It’s supposed to look that way. Ugh!

A few weeks later I was in the same Chain store in a different city having some links removed from a watch. I made a joke about how much nicer they were than this other location. Apparently the distrct manager was helping me and he was not impressed with my stories about this lady.

I manage a retail location myself, so crap customers service drives me insane.

I had this same thing happen to me. I went to a local jewlery store after getting my ring to see if they could appraise it to make sure we got a good deal. The owner tried to tell me how terrible my ring was and told me it had lots of inclusions. It’s certified, so I know he was lying to me. He also told me it didn’t sparkle. Which is insane. I get comments from strangers regularly about how sparkly it is. He just wanted me to feel like I didn’t get a good deal and buy from him. I never went back of course.
