It might…hard to say, there’s so much we see today that we haven’t ever seen before…so much we’ve seen yesterday that we wouldn’t dare wear today!!! Then I think the only thing that’s been around forever is lace. Ruffles have been around but the style has changed dramatically.

I don’t know. I think the dramatic style of ruffle will go out of fashion (which sadly includes my dress!) but ruffles in general I think are a standard option when designing a dress

Most design elements will probably date, but who cares! I actually like that. When I look at the photo fresitachulita posted, I feel a sense of nostalgia about the 80s. I’ll bet that girl’s dress was the talk of the day 🙂 She is glowing and that’s what makes her a stunning bride

“Timeless” dresses are beautiful, but I personally think that playing it safe causes some of them to pale in comparison to the more avant-garde styles. If you like ruffles, go for it!

@ozpeony:  I agree as well.  They might go out of style, but what difference does it make?  If you’re getting married in 2012 or 2013, what’s wrong with looking like it?

I think ruffles will prob go back “out” of style, but they’ll come back.  Everything always does.  And actually, if you look at that dress….if you remove the sleeves and illusion neckline….I’ve seen dresses like that recently.  Lots of them actually.

If you love them, wear them!

My mom’s dress had ruffles! Married in 1987

Everything goes out of style. Look at your parents wedding pictures, they look like they got married in whatever year they did.

My kids will look at my dress and laugh, but I’ll remember everyone all night telling me how beautiful it was.

Perhaps but things come and go in cycles. I expect ruffles like anything else we wear including our dresses will go out style and who knows maybe come back in again.
