@chocolatecoveredstrawberry:  The main thing is to watch the weather reports to see if any are forming.  With radars and satellites there is a lot of advance notice about hurricanes.  I’ve only had one vacation cut short by a hurricane ever, we left a day early to be safe and well out of it’s path.  Be sensible and aware, but with a little luck there shouldn’t be a problem.

We will be honeymooning in the Dominican Rupublic in October, which is also hurricane season.  We got travel insurance wich was only about $100 per ticket – maybe look into adding that to your trip.

Meh.  I live in Florida and June isn’t really that active historically.  The most powerful storms usually come through in late July and August.  I seond PP’s suggestion to pay for the added travel insurance in case you have to cancel.

Just get the travel insurance that has cancellation.   A lot of resorts have a hurricane policy too where they will credit you anyway.   Check your resorts policy

Get travel insurance but you’ll be fine. My travel agent told me in 20 years she’s only ever had 1 trip to the Caribbean in the fall get cancelled.
