Well a proposal must have the following things in order to count:

-a REAL ring… no hologram crap

-the ring must cost over $2500 because you’re worth at least that much

-a super duper romantic location and speech

So I think since it didn’t meant the third qualification it’s not real and you should totally ask for a do-over because that is definetly a thing people do.

bee123456789 :  right?  I’m trying to remember all the super romantic moments from my last trip to Disney.  Was it the sweating like a pig 10 minutes after walking outside because of the humidity?  Or maybe the kid screaming bloody murder at dinner whose parents didn’t bother to remove from the situation?  Or maybe it was standing in line for 90 minutes for various attractions?  Or it could be the woman with the stroller who rammed it into my leg and didn’t apologize?  Its so hard to choose just one.  They all make me swoon at the memory.

annabananabee :  LOL. I just thought it was funny that out of all the romantic places in the world she mentioned a place where I just imagine tons of screaming kids to be running around all over the place. She really has some high standards!

“Am I wrong?”

Absolutely not.  As a “fairytale love kind of girl” you deserve nothing less than your demands.  Insist on a redo of the proposal ensuring it is romantic and that he says “I love you”.  Enjoy planning your trip to Disney.  Perhaps you should have a custom made princess gown for your proposal redo?

What was the fight about? Was it over the proposal? Why is the engagement off, does he say it’s off or have you said it’s off? If you’re upset over the proposal, then you’re upset. Give yourself some time to feel better then go from there. Back when I got engaged I think the main thing people raised their eyebrows over was if there was no ring at the time of the proposal. Now with all the wedding shows judging everthing from the proposal to the party favors  I’m surprised every bride isn’t expecting a over the top experience so I do understand why the writer may feel down.

What did he say when he proposed? was it really that bad? Is it so much that the proposal wasn’t like a fairy tale or did it come off in a way that makes you doubt if he really wants to marry you? I’ve had friends that got proposed to only to hear from the guy later that it was just a way of ‘establishing a commitment’ it was not done with the idea of setting a date to actually get married. Sounds to me that there’s more to this than just feeling that the proposal wasn’t fancy enough. Could be more wrong.

Maybe he failed to realize the most romantic proposals take place at amusement parks. Can he do six flags or does it have to be the child labor loving folks at Disney?

A good proposal doesn’t give you “fairytale love”. I can confidently say, I don’t think you have it though or your engagement wouldn’t have ended over just a fight. There are men who face dragons to marry a girl they’ve never even met!! Or what about that one prince…he had to deal with so many disgusting feet trying to find out who the shoe belonged to. There’s your fairytale love.
