@RoundSolitaire:  This is what I do (on advice of my PT).  I walk briskly for five minutes and then do my shin/achilles stretches.  Even if it’s dynamic stretching I really think you can’t just start running!

@Linz1231:  Thanks!  You are so sweet!  Actually signing up for races is what keeps me working out so I don’t embarass myself the day-of!  I think the trail race will be a new challenge.

@Linz1231:  For the color run, make sure you try to get in an early wave! I had a friend that did it and they ran out of color by the time she got to run… she ended her 5k with a white t-shirt!  (They give out color at the end, so she and her friends pelted each other, but she said it just wasn’t the same.)

@mrstilly:  I’m doing the North Face Challenge at Bear Mountain.  I’ve also thought of doing the Hairy Gorilla/Squirrely Six Miler at Thacher Park, but it’s always too close to the NYC marathon and I worry about getting hurt :/

I am training for a lot this year. I have my 1st 5K this weekend. Another in April. A 1/4 marathon in early May. The warrior dash in June. A duatholon(like a tri but no swimming) in July and pelotonia in August!

YIKES!

You ladies are awesome! I just did a 5k two weeks ago, another 5k in April, 5k in June. Maybe a 1/2 if I can fit in the training time by the end of the year, wedding planning, school and work are keeping me quite busy! I’ve already committed to doing the Princess 1/2 marathon next Feb. That’s a huge deal for me. I’M SO EXCITED!

I ran my first 10k since high school on Saturday and broke an hour! I was so proud. I ran 59:02 and placed 476th out of 2000 runners. I just signed up for another 10k thats at the end of April. I really just need to sign up for races so I stay in shape and stay motivated.

@DaneLady:  Right. On. Love that quote!!

Doing a 10k run in April, 40mi bike race in May and a sprint tri in July. I’ve done plenty of half marathons before, and did the sprint tri last year, but getting ready for the bike race is a challenge!!

As for stretching, I’ve found that it goes much better if you stretch once your muscles are warm- jog or brisk walk. Also think that doing yoga on non-training days gives you a good foundation. REALLY helps with stamina.

I love racing season! I ran a marathon earlier in March, and now I’m following the Daniels’ running formula/VDOT training for a few months to improve my 5k speed before I jump back into marathon training. Regular interval training makes me feel so much better about my body and my running skills Smile

Currently training for the half marathon on May 6. I hurt my knee and went to physical therapy but now it’s all good! The most I did was 9 miles and that was on Sunday. I feel awesome!
