I run to stay in shape these days; it’s also something I enjoy doing with my fiancé (we like to sign up for races) and with my dog. I used to be a competetive runner (I ran cross country and track in college), but now it’s just for fun.

I’ve been a runner since I was 15 (now in my 30s)

i run around my neighborhood or on trails. I enjoy trail running more.

I’m currently training for a 15k; I think I’d eventually like to run a marathon or an ultra marathon.

I run by myself, with my dog, with my fiancé, and with friends

I’ve done many half marathons (13.1 miles)

Why do you run? For health and fitness

How long have you been running for? On and off for years. I even ran track in middle/high school. I most recently took it up again in September.

How often do you run? 3 times a week

Where do you run? Right now, the treadmill. It’s cold, snowy, and icy where I live. I don’t want to risk injury.

Do you have any running goals? I’m signed up to run my first half in September this year.

Do you run solo or with others? Solo

Finally, what is the furthest you’ve been able to run? 4 miles

Why do you run? = I love the mental clarity (no headphones/music for me) and the way it makes me aware of my body, breath, heartbeats, footfall, etc. Also, I crew for my brother who is a crazy, elite, ultra-athlete and running helps me better support him.

How long have you been running for? = Pretty much since I was a kid. I remember footraces in elementary school.

How often do you run? = I’m running 1-3x per week now but hoping to bump it up a bit more since I have a half marathon in May. I ran in the rain on Wednesday and it felt amazing!

Where do you run? = I strongly perfer trail running over street/track/treadmill running. Hell for me is running laps around a track. I’ve been trail-running for over 10 years and I absolutely love it. I live on a hill and there is NO flat ground within 3 miles of my house. So I’ve learned to love hills.

Do you have any running goals? = Yes! I want to break 2:10 on my next half marathon (May) and improve my time on the Catalina Island Half Marathon (November).

Do you run solo or with others? = I run solo 90% of the time; occasionally I’ll run with my spouse (slower than me) or my brother (waaaay faster than me) or a girlfriend (close to my pace). We used to run with our two Siberian Huskies 3x per week but they’re older now so we stick to 1-3 mile jogs (casual trail runs, walk the uphill sections, jog the downhill sections)  about 2x per week now.

Finally, what is the furthest you’ve been able to run? = Umm, I don’t like really long runs (I get bored) so my longest “training” run was about 16-17 miles. But I’ve done 2 marathons (26.2miles each) and hated it. I’m definitely a mid-distance runner. I’ve done 20+ half marathons. 13.1 is my happy place.
