I’m looking for a recommendation for a heart rate monitor/tracking/pacing device for half marathon training! I’ve been looking at the Garmins because of the GPS feature. Do you have anything you LOVE and couldn’t run without?! I’m looking mostly for tracking and pacing purposes.

I currently use the Timex Marathon GPS watch (in pink – here it is). It’s very simple, but it works. I actually bought it at the Disney Marathon expo because my previous watch (Garmin Forerunner 305) didn’t quite survive the flight. I NEED to run with a watch the shows me my time or distance. I’ve grown dependent on this (sadly). I don’t think the Timex has the capability for a HRM, but my Garmin did — I never used one though. The Timex is great for tracking and pacing purpose — it’s very simple: it only tracks distance, pace and speed (current and/or average). If you’re looking for more complex measurements, this watch probably isn’t for you.
The only downfall is that you really cannot “download” your runs to the computer, at least I haven’t been able to find a way. I used to like to upload my runs to dailymile right from my Garmin so I could see splits and the elevation changes along my route. I do kind of miss that.
