i am participating in what they call filene’s basement running of the brides next week. i’m wondering if any of you brides out there had the gaul to participate in such an event, and if you have any advice for me.
i’m going with a team of 2 other really good friends. we are planning on making a plackard sign that says “NEED A SIZE 8-10”, bringing clothespins to clip the dresses on me in case the sample sizes are too big, and just wearing a strapless bra and leggings.
am i crazy? i really am mostly doing it for the fun/comraderie involved with other brides to have a great time and look for a dress in a fun way. i’m not looking to box anyone out or have anyone sabotaged because of me. what do you all think? has anyone ever done anything like this before?

I did! I bought my dress for $299 at a running of the brides in Kansas City. It was so much fun! We stood in line for 2-3 hours before they let anyone in and we really go to know the ladies that were around us. It was nice.
I did have to fight this girl for my dress. It was my size, about 3-4 sizes to SMALL for her. She bogarted it for about an hour and a half before the ladies working the event told her to give it up because there would be no way to alter it that much larger (She couldn’t even get it up over her thighs.) I also got 2-hand pushed into a rack.
Ha. It was good though. I’m really glad I did it. My advice it to have quick hands, when they let you in, grab as many as you can right away and then look at them later after you’ve had a chance to grab a bunch and stop to try them on. Even if that doesn’t sound like a good idea, that’s what everyone else will be doing. And, don’t be afraid to get naked. lol.

Have fun. I always love looking of the photos that get posted on Boston.com later that day, it alwasys looks like people have a great time.
I have also heard of people mozing in hours after the event takes place and still finding gorgeous gowns.
