What about covering them with Burlap sacks and then tieing it with some raffia or twine or something?

a burlap covering might be kind of uncomfortable, but what about getting white chair covers and tying a sash with burlap?

I have heard you can get huge burlap coffee sacks at any coffee shop, they usually throw/give them away – that is if you dont mind the writing on them.  If you wanted to make some/mind the writing you can buy burlap by the yard in fabric stores.

I don’t know if you have a hobby lobby, but ours carries burlap by the roll. It was 4.99 per yard, we’re using it as a table runner!

I have to agree with kitzy, I think sitting on burlap could be pretty uncomfortable. What about fabric in a burlap like tan color?

Do not make chair covers out of burlap. As PP’s have said they will be very uncomfortable.

You could do small burlap covered pillow that are meant for the low back, but that would be a lot of work.

You can buy  upholstery webbing that comes in long rolls about 3″ wide. You could use those to tie around your chair back- it looks somewhat like burlap.

I’m making burlap flowers for my centerpieces and burlap sheds horribly! Not to mention, some people have allergic reactions to burlap and it’s just itchy!

What about muslin? I looked at it at JoAnns the other day and I think it would go with rustic.

Hey! I have the EXACT same problem…. I have stressed over it ALOT…. one of my friends who recently got married said… “do you remember the chairs at my wedding (or any other friends”… i thought about it and i really couldnt remember any chairs! This helped me realize that I can use other decor to distract from my UGLY totally non rustic looking chairs!

I am planning to use dark colored table clothes and paper lanterns to draw attention up. Remember you really wont see the chairs once there are people sitting in them!

However, if you think you might lose sleep over it… I second everyone elses opinion that burlap is a cute idea in theory but might not be such a great choice. but muslin def might work!

What did you end up doing?  I am having the same problem with my venue.  Considering just renting wooden chairs with pads, but that will be over $900 for 230 guest.

Also in the same boat! Anyone else have some great ideas or can share an experience?

We are thinking of doing white chair covers with a burlap and light green bow…
