I am getting married next year (2016) in March. I am still in the beginning stages of wedding planning but I’ve already found a local venue, I am booking a restaurant privately. The restaurant it’s self has a sort of southern meets loft type feel to it. It has a staircase in the middle of the space where I will be having my ceremony, a seperate room for dinner which has natural light, and an upstairs area for dancing. My initial thought for a theme was rustic glam with southern touches (like monograms) with A neutral color scheme . Now that I’ve been looking up ideas all I seem to find are mason jars which I’m not sure are quite my style so far as centerpieces. I would proably like it to be just a bit more glam than rustic. Does anyone have any ideas on a rustic glam wedding?

Check out save-on-crafts.com
They have decorations for lots of different wedding themes- I know for sure they have rustic, vintage, DIY, etc. Pretty good prices, and there are also lots of pretty pictures to give you ideas!

Mint julep cups! My first thought, before even clicking on your post.
Southern charm, glam but the flowers can be a more rustic, unstructured bunch!

I woudl stay away from mason jars too unless your family really does use them. One of my friends got married a few years ago and her wedding decor was Southern Glam now that I think about it. Maybe you can get some imspiration from her.

That’s kinda how I would classify my theme, it’s all about the little details though. Dark wood baskets for programs and such, stainless steel buckets for drinks, big oak barrel tables, hydrangeas everywhere, mercury glass hobnail jars for aisle decor and grossgrain ribbon everywhere I can put it are how I’m getting the theme accross.
The mason jar/burlap trend is a very rustic/country kind of southern but it seems like you’re looking for high class southern touches which aren’t hard to find but I’d leave the word rustic out of your searches and you’ll get better inspiration. I think the mint julep cups are a great idea, bow ties for the boys, monograms, pearls, little lace details and some of the things I mentioned before would all be good things to incorporate!

I’m doing something similar. Our reception area is fairly rustic so the decor will be more glam. I want to do 2 different table runners, some lace, some just a nice blush fabric… I’m still toying with the idea of sequins though too…
Anyway, centerpieces… I have to actually make this decision Saturday and I’m torn. I’m ok with a little mix-n-match but not sure what to do. Here’s what I’m debating between:
Mercury glass… there’s silver and gold versions
Or Milk Glass

I am loving the mercury glasses. The gold one stands out to me. Not to mention blush and gold look amazing together! You definitely gave me some decor ideas mentioning the dark wood. There’s a lot of dark wood at my venue.

I’m gonna check that website out later today. Thanks!

I would have never thought of mint julep glasses. I bet I could get them form a local rental company. They would be adorable for my cocktail tables. (I’m having a cocktail reception.)

I might have given one of the other brides credit for idea, I’m sorry. That’s exactly the kind of southern charm I was thinking of. I was able to find some better ideas by leaving rustic out my search. Thanks!

I think when you decide on a theme, you should first decide what those words mean to you. What does rustic mean to you? After you define it, is it really something you want?
Or do you really want southern glam?

I think I really like the gold mercury glass too! Those pics are all from my venue bc they include floral centerpieces. My colors are blush and ivory, and then there’s some metallics thrown in. My dress is blush, BMs are in ivory, Fiance and Groomsmen are in grey tuxes with blush/white gingham bowties and suspenders.
Anyway, they have different wooden planks instead of just the round stumps…. I think I might opt to use those instead of renting/buying table runners… Something like this… (YAY! I think you just helped me make my decision for saturday!)

I’ll show you what I plan on doing at my wedding… Mine will be outside in a sort of wooded area, lots of green trees and grass, I like to call it sort of “southern chic”…hopefully this could give you some ideas as well!
To start with I will build a wooden box like this for each table…I will use one centerpiece and probably 2 of the tall candle holders like this shows, then…
I want a floral arrangement like the bottom one in this photo but in a square glass vase like the top shows. So one of those floral arrangements on each wooden box…… I will also buy a bunch of votive candle holders, clear glass, and place them randomly around the wooden box. I also thought of maybe buying strings of pearls and laying them different ways on top of the box around the vase to add a little something extra!
Hope you find an idea you love!!
