Help ladies I need help with my vision coming together. Wedding date is January 8th of 2011!
Colors all variety of blues *heavy on the darker shades, navy, royal etc* and cream/ivory.
Theme that I really love and so does Fiance is kinda rustic like ish lol…mainly pine cones, wooden slabs, branches and love birds *birds in general I guess* we really like this plus I live out in the country meaning this decor is free minus a few pieces lol
MONEY SAVER…but I also love to travel so does Fiance I found travel decor stuff and would love to incorprate it without it seeming strange with the pine cones and wood. Like I really love old maps and suitcases.
We also love old books…we met at bookstore and would like to have that in the picture some too. Is this getting too nutsy???
Any thoughts?? Thanks Ashleykaye

I love your idea! I’ve seen globes & books as centerpieces and slabs of wood used as cake stands on OnceWed before. I attached the pictures below.
Hope this helps.

I think it can work out fine as long as you keep things in the same color palatte. Example: if you’re wanting to incorporate books then look for antique books in blues, greys, blacks, and browns. Nothing new, crisp, or shiny or it won’t flow with the rustic elements. If you’re wanting to include maps look for aged or antiqued maps or even print some yourself with a sepia tone to them. I think you could very easily have centerpieces with old books with birds placed on top. Your table numbers could be old, antiqued maps or you could do book titles that are meaningful to you and Fiance or that you both love (your favorite, his favorite, etc.). Use old wood to make signs, etc. Sounds beautiful!

I think it’s a great idea! We’re having a rustic wedding… and travel is my middle name! The first thing I thought about was poscards I have from US National Parks. I’ve attached some below. You could possibly use old travel books as centerpieces… or bookplates with a rustic image of a suitcase or globe on it for escort cards. Your guestbook could be an Ansel Adams book for guests to sign.. favors could be vintage postcards. (You could custom these too to make them specific to your region, if you’re handy in photoshop and print them at vistaprint.com for cheap – that is what we did for our New Husband wedding, bottom images.) There are a million possibilities for this theme. I love it!

You could have a large vintagey looking map to serve as your guest book. Guests could sign all over the map and then you could frame it to hang in your home. I also like the world globes as centerpieces.
