I’m desperately trying to find a good deal on 12x2ish” wood slabs and 3×4, 3×6 and 3×9″ ivory pillar candles. Anyone know where I could get these items? Need about 15 of each. In CA. Thanks so much for your help!!! 🙂

I suggest going to Home Depot or Lowes, or another home improvement store to check out their wood. Figure out how much you need and then have them cut the peices for you. For the pillar candles, I suggest checking out the dollar type stores in your area.

what do you need the wood slabs for? I don’t know if they would work but wood pallets are a cheap way (ususally free) to get some wood for projects…and it is recycled! I have found business in my area on Craigslist that post when they have free pallets that are up for grabs….don’t know what you are using them for but it might work.

If you are looking for tree slices to use under candles, contact your local landscaping or arborist companies to see where they are working. They may give you some free.
In the past I have placed ads in craigslist, and obtained all the wood, branches etc I need free. ( I do a fair amount of decorating for charity events).
Candles are normally the cheapest in dollar stores or Ikea.
Ikea has 6″ pillar candles for $2.49

Thanks for these great responses! I’m looking for tree slices w/ bark on the outer edge. I’ve posted a craigslist ad, but haven’t received any feedback. Maybe I’ll call around and ask directly. 🙂 Definitely keep the suggestions coming! I SO appreciate all the help I can get!

Also try your city parks staff to see if there are any city trees scheduled for removal.

Contact any tree removal company. They have the equipment to saw them for you and might appreciate the opportunity to do something different. I may do the same thing for my daughter’s wedding. My husband said it needs to be done with a chain saw.

Thanks everyone! Seems the best deal I’ve found (and given in to) is using a 40% coupon to Michaels. Takes the $9.99 large slice down to $5.99. I think that’s the cheapest I will find them. I wish they were thicker, but they’re perfect looking, perfectly level and sanded smooth. Less stress and get’s the job done. Now I’ll contact a local landscaping place to see if they can collect a cake plate size slice that I can work on sanding to perfection. 🙂 Thanks everyone for your helpful comments! Still looking for ivory pillar candles for cheap – 3×4, 3×6, 3×9″. If you have any leads, I’d really appreciate the help! Blessings!

Also, http://www.candle4less.com/ is located in San Diego. I just went into the store to pick up my order, so I didn’t have to pay for shipping! Good to know if you’re in the area! 🙂
