Girl, I HEAR YOU!

I wrote about this when it happened to me last month and the Bees were awesome, supportive, and gave me some really good advice!  Take a peek if you have a minute.

Turning the Big Dirty (30)

Ps – it’s really not that bad, I’ve been 30 for over a month now.  Beyond not wanting to say it aloud, not too much has changed. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I cried every day the whole week of my bday. No joke. I still hate getting older. And it never gets easier for me. I just try to ignore it. Do something fun. Or ignore it…that’s what I wanted to do. haha

@lia22:  Haha, you’re welcome!  And really, don’t worry.  To be honest, I’m still skeptical about my 30s being “the best years of my life”, but I’ll give it more time to see how things turn out.

The thing is, I am already fairly financially established and settled into my career.  Also, my twenties WERE SO AWESOME.  So it’s not like I feel that I need to “find myself” or whatever.  Still, this next decade will hopefully bring me all new joys (which hopefully include children).

Plus, I’m too old to stay up late partying anymore anyway and my feet would probably hurt and I’d just be hungover the entire next day.  My physical changes have definitely started to influence my wants and desires, that’s for sure!

It will all be ok and you will still look hot!  Happy early birthday (and on that note, I’m going to bed because I’m older than you). ๐Ÿ˜›

@lia22:  I am so in agreement.  I turn 30 in 5 months.  Since the day I turned 29, I have been dreading 30.  I actually think 30 may end up being better than 29 because at least I won’t spend the whole year dreading my next birthday.  For what it’s worth, my mom, Mother-In-Law, and everyone else I know that’s in their 50s-70s swears that their 30s were their favorite decade!

My FH and I both turn 30 next week. He’s more freaked out than I. I figure life is short and I will never be as young as I was yesterday, but I also can only go one way – forward. I figure embrace it, love it, and live it because life is too short to do otherwise.

@lia22:  happy30th!!  don’t let a ‘number’ bother you.  i loved turning 30.  i loved turning 40.  i don’t care about the number.  sometimes when asked, i have to stop and think how old i am.

how do i accept my birthdays?  goal setting.  i always make long term goals for that decade.  it might be a career goal or personal goal.  new position at work, buy or upgrade house, new car, vacation, additional credentials etc.  also, i bought myself something nice for milestone birthdays. (that helped)

@lia22:  definitely try the goal setting.  not only do you have a focus, but when you look back, you think of all of the things you did at certain ages and it doesn’t make you feel old, just successful.  my Fiance is still in his 30’s and is scared to turn 40 so i know what you mean.
