Awww I’m sorry!  I dread the day I will have to do that to my cats.  Just know you did the best thing for her.

I’m so sorry. Losing a companion is so hard. Just think of it like this; there are two sides to a coin. One side is all the happiness she brought to your life. The other side is the sadness you feel when she’s gone. You can’t have one without the other, but the happiness she brought was worth the sadness you feel now. In time, the sadness will lessen and become less disruptive to your daily life, and you’ll remember her more for the happiness she brought.

I have a rabbit that is about 8 years old or older. I am trying to mentally prepare myself for the day she passes away. That’s the sad reality of having a pet; we almost always outlive them.

Aww I’m so sorry to hear that 🙁

I had to put mine down last year after 15.5 years. It’s so hard but you know it’s the right thing for them

Wow – 20 years is an amazing life span! I hope once you’ve grieved, you can give another amazing cat a home – you clearly are doing something right if your fur baby lived that long!!

Awwww I’m so sorry.  It’s so hard to lose a pet, they’re like family to most of us.  You had 20 years of great experiences with your kitty, and you’ll always have those memories to look back on.

I am so sorry for your loss. This part of having animals just sucks. My first cat Snowball passed away two years ago, she was 21. Your kitty had an amazing life with you. If she was anything like Snowball at that age – I’m sure there’s some sense of relief that she’s comfortable and at peace now.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Putting a pet to rest is never an easy decision, but life does get easier. We had to put my favorite cat down, and it was the most painful experience of my life (even worse than a breakup or losing a human).

Aw I am so sorry to hear about your kitty – it sounds like she was well-loved and lived a long, full life! You definitely did the right thing <3

@Kimberley25:  She was white and fluffy – very original name given to her by my six-year-old self! In her last years, she was starting to struggle…too arthritic to groom herself, she was bow-legged and couldn’t really see very well in the end. She had developed this great cranky old lady meow too, haha. When she was young she had a really sweet meow.

I don’t think we ever stop feeling their absence, but it does get better. I still think about the cats we’ve lost – some at an old age, some far too young – and it brings a tear even many years on. They’re just the best.

I’m so sorry for your loss.  I still get teary when I think about my Sam, we euthanized her almost 2 years ago now, she was 21 and had cancer.  She really did miss her calling as a therapy cat – any time someone was upset, she would wrap her front paws around their neck and just purr at them until they felt better.  I think I’ll always miss her, but I also know how much happiness we brought each other and remembering that helps a lot.
