@Elayne51:  This happened to me. I thought I was 8 weeks but when I went in for an u/s it showed a sac but no baby. We later discovered I was only about 5 weeks, and we have a healthy, extremely energetic 2 year old son today 🙂 HANG IN THERE

Hugs! So sorry to hear you had a disappointing ultrasound.  Hopefully baby was hiding or maybe you’re not as far along you thought. Fx for you.. good luck!

I know at least 3 women who have had this happen and have had successful pregnancies. Apparently the fetus can go into a sort of hybernation for a week or two so even if you’re sure that you’re at 7 weeks, you could only be at 5 weeks.

Fingers crossed.

I just had the same thing happen today (thought I was 7 weeks, sac is measuring 5.5, no visible baby, but yolk sac is there). I’m devastated. I hope that you have good news after this. My Fiance is also keeping his hopes up but I just can’t imagine it’s going to work out. Here’s hoping for both of us.

8 week is really early. Babies are only the size of a kidney bean at this stage. It may have just been too early to see anything.

Wow, scary! I honestly would have asked the tech to let another person attempt as well. It’s unfortunate, but not everyone in the medical industry actually knows what she is doing…

@Elayne51:  I am so sorry!!!!! My thought are with you. My HCG is on target with my measurements, so I’m still in the waiting game. Constantly waiting for a MC to start is not fun. I hope to have answers soon. I have an u/s next Friday. Hugs to you. I’m so sorry.

Thanks to other well wishers.
