I’m sorry, I don’t have any advice, I’m not plus sized.  But I did want to say don’t give up, and I’m so sorry that you feel this way.  I’m sure that you can find a dress you love.  Being plus sized doesn’t mean you have to settle. What about getting one made?

I was a size 16 when I got married, and of course they still didn’t have dresses in my size – I needed about a 22 to fit over my hips.  But I was still able to try them on, they just had to be clipped.  I guess what I’m saying is, why can’t you try on dresses that are too small, just to see what they’d be like?  None of the dresses I tried on fit, but they did enough for me to get the idea.

Is it possible to do some research and see if there’s a place in or near your area that carries bigger samples? I thought I would have a hard time finding a place to try things on but actually found a place about an hour outside of my city that had a whole room of samples to try that were 16-26!

@HelloRaeven:  Are you willing to travel? There is a couple of salons specifically for plus sized brides in the DMV area.

Have you tried going to Alfred Angelo? I found out their store is in Knoxville, is that too far away? I know Alfred Angelo has plus sized wedding gowns because I asked when I was looking for my dress. I am a size 20, but usually fit into a size 22 because of my breasts.

Hi. I’m not going to be any use because I’m in London, I’m a Uk 18 ( think that’s a US 16) and the UK bridal shops mostly only have size 10 samples which is frustrating! I put them on rand the lady clipped another piece of material at the back so it still had its shape. I’ve bought one now ( which I haven’t tried on) I guess the world is still a very size 10 place! Don’t be down heartened, you can try custom made which is often cheaThan than wedding designers, otherwise look at plus size wedding dresses, we have a few here and I think you guys have a few over there?

@HelloRaeven:  I’ve had a few custom dresses made for me online and I’ve never had a problem. You’re more than likely to find something you like, because it’s just a wider market and there’s more options for individuality. Best way to not worry about trying it on first is to measure multiple times, request a little extra fabric in the stitching when ordering, and find a seamstress near you that you trust, just in case. My dress straps were just an inch too loose, so they need to be taken in. Worst that’s ever happened to me in ordering any clothing online. I’m sure you’ll find a dress that you love.

Try looking for another David’s Bridal in your area.  The one here had dozens of dresses in sizes 20-26 that I was able to try on.

@HelloRaeven:  I can’t believe DB only had 4 dresses, that is insane! They have TONS on their website.

I’m a size 22 and bought my dress from DB (in Canada) and they had literally more dresses in my size than I wanted to try on.

I can’t offer advice but I wanted to say I understand how hard it is, I went to 2 store before DB, I called both and was assured they carried plus size only to find out their biggest dress was a 18. 🙁

I live in middle TN and while I am not plus size I went to quite a few places to dress shop, and noticed who had the most selection. I would go to bridal warehouse over in the rivergate area…they don’t have good customer service which sucks but they do have a large selection and a lot of different sizes and I think you will have better luck finding your size there since they don’t carry just the regular sample sizes. Good luck I hope you find a dress soon. Also heard a lot of good recommendations for the white room you might want to call them and see what they carry.
