So a week ago, I got my beautiful Blue Nile engagement ring in the mail.
Well 4 days after I had it, I noticed one of the pave diamonds looked black, like it was either chipped or cracked. I called Blue Nile that evening after crying to my Fiance about my ring and how disappointed I was. They were super helpful, apologizing for what happened to my ring and that they would fully insure it and pay for return shipping VIA FedEx. The next day, we go to our local OfficeMax to use their shipping site. It pains me to say this, but the woman who helped me was a bitch. She was looking me up and down, giving me all these funny looks *I wear all black and have tattoos* then watched as I sadly slipped my engagement ring back into its box to be shipped back. When I asked her if she had a box I could ship it back in. She “looked”, which really was I will look under my desk for a few seconds, then proceeded to tell me no, that she didn’t have a box that would be tall enough to ship my ring box in and I need to go look around the store to find a box and buy it. Fine. I will do that because you obviously cannot provide a box that will fix my engagement ring which is 2 inches tall. If that.
So after taping up my box and putting the shipping label on it, I pay and she takes the box, and places it on the window seel, facing a very busy parking lot. I may be over reacting, but she saw what I put in the box, and insted of placing it somewhere safe. She puts it there. At this point I was beyond done. I was tired and just wanted to go home. Speed up a few hours and it is now 1 am. I go to check the tracking on my ring and nothing has happened. At all. I choose to ignore it and go to bed. The next morning I wake up late and check the tracking. It has been about 10-11 hours since I checked it last. Still nothing had happened. Just the same “Shipping information has been recieved.” At this point I was getting concerned, thinking about how she placed my beautiful and expensive engagement ring in the damn window seel. I call OfficeMax yesterday, and ask them about my package and make sure it has been picked up. I was briefly placed on hold, then he told me that it had been picked up last night and I needed to call FedEx about what was happening. I thank him for his time and then call FedEx.
Once I FINALLY get someone to answer, I learn that they do not have my ring. That nothing has been picked up by them at that location in a few days. My heart sinks, literally sinks. The FedEx employee asks if I would like her to call the OfficeMax and ask them about it. I say yes and after 5 minutes on hold, she places me on a 3 way call with an OfficeMax employee and her manager. They say they have found my package and that it was hidden under a desk in the shipping department. I breathe a sigh of relief and they ask if I want them to open it and check to make sure it is still there. I quickly agree, then wait. After a 2 minute hold, they tell me that they legally they can’t open it because it is sealed, but it feels like something is in there.
I call Blue Nile after all of this, I am emtionally destroyed, I have no idea if my engagement ring is still in the box or not. I tell them that, and they tell me not to worry it is fully insured and that if anything happens they will just refund me the credit.
Finally my ring arrived at their office at 8:30 this morning and they are now starting the refund process. Because after much discussion, I told my Fiance I wanted to get a different ring, I work alot with my hands so the pave stones aren’t practical for me. I am hoping that it doesn’t take too long to process and have our credit put back on our card.
All in all, Blue Nile has been amazing, super helpful and reassuring. FedEx was wonderful for once. OfficeMax will never get any of my business again. Ever. That was just a horrible experiance with them.
