I won’t go into the details, but yesterday was my fist of two bridal showers – and while it was a great shower co-hosted by my Mom and Future Mother-In-Law, I ended up leaving in tears after a relative brought up for the third time this week that she wouldn’t be able to attend our wedding since we were ‘anti-‘kid’
During the shower, one of the guests (the female companion of my future grandfather) came up to me and handed me a sealed envelope. She asked me not to open it until I got home.
Low and behold, it was a packing slip for the wedding gift she and Grandpa bought us – OUR KITCHENAID MIXER!!!!!!!!!!! I got teary again for a whole new reason. Such a generous gift, something I really wanted, and it totally made my afternoon.
I can’t wait until it arrives!!!

Boo to the anti-kid comment, but HURRAY for the stand mixer. They are fantastic. Did you get it in a fabulous colour?

We are “anti-kid” too haha Our ceremony is too long for young ones to sit through. People just need to deal with your requests!
Glad you got an awesome gift to brighten your day! That’s awesome!

Some people just don’t get it. Try not to let those who give negative remarks get to you. I know it’s hard, but they are also not paying for the wedding and therefore, they really don’t get a say.
On the other hand…LUCKY GIRL for getting the mixer! I love that mixer and am still wishing someone would get it for us.

I’m actually not anti-kid – but people are saying I am and it’s really hurtful. I’ve posted at length about my kid-free wedding drama, so I figured I would leave it alone here.
I got black – which makes me have the happy face and the sad face – I wanted green, and my fiance kept saying ‘You may want green now, but you may not want green in 15 years’ – and I agreed that he has a point.
(Although green is totally a food color, so it’s not hard ot imagine always wanting a green shade of some kind in my kitchen, right?!)

The green is so pretty! You can always exchange it for the color you want. What a great, generous gift, and I’m really glad it brightened your shower. Some people just don’t know when to keep their opinions to themselves.

@christalynn11:
Well, black goes with any color-including green, so it will be nice to have other kitchen items in green! And you may find that in the future-your Fiance is right! You never know what other trends will be in the coming years! π

@[email protected]: You make the same point which is valid. It’s an appliance, not an accessory – so I’m definitely keeping the black.
I have green dishes and green touches in other places. And I painted the powder room nearby lime green π

Sorry about the comment π some people have made comments about our decision not to have alcohol (hello, you pay for it then!), and it’s disheartening, but you know what, they can go out after the reception on their own dollar! On the otherhand, congrats on the Kitchenaid Mixer!! I registered for one, but I have a feeling it’ll be a post-wedding purchase with the money we’ve received. I registered for the cinnamon red one!

@Violachap: Same here – totally thought it would be a post-wedding purchase. I can’t explain how surprised I was. It made my day. π
(Red is my other favorite kitchen color!)
