- Wedding: July 2012
My Fiance and I are having a Destination Wedding next month and his brother + his family can’t come. His brother works in a place where he has to designate vacation days a year ahead of time ( this sounds odd to me but it’s what we’ve been told). We just got engaged in November. OK so he can’t come to the wedding and be the Best Man. FI’s dad will be there and will be his Bridesmaid or Best Man. BUT we’re also having an ‘at home’ reception in Aug. and he says he can’t come to that either because it’s a Friday night and he can’t take off from work. He’d only need to take off a couple of hours…I can’t imagine what he’d do if he were sick!
My FH was his brother’s Bridesmaid or Best Man and he had a really big Bachelor party for him. MY FH would love for someone to do that for him now, but I’m pretty sure his brother won’t. I mentioned this to my future Father-In-Law today and he said he’ll do something one on one. I know my FH and his brother were very close but after I came along I’m pretty sure his brother’s wife decided she didn’t like me and she rules the roost. They also had a falling out with FH’s dad years agoo and don’t let their girls know him as a grandfather. Not a nice situation. I do really like my FH’s brother…would it be totally inappropriate to suggest he do something in the way of a bachelor party – like ask him if he needs names or addresses of people? I’m pretty sure it would only happen if his wife approved 🙁 Should I just stay out of it & leave it alone?
