So I’m 17w2d and absolutely ROASTING! My husband is gone for the day and it’s already above 85° inside the house. The fans just aren’t cutting it. It’s supposed to get upwards of 90° outside by the end of the day.
I’ve been considering putting the air conditioner in the window, which would mean lifting it out of storage, carrying it to the room where I want it, and putting it in the window. My mom says no way and asks if I’m trying to kill her grandbaby… lol.
I know I should wait it out, but I’m overheating like crazy! Would it be really bad to lift it? I know it’s not a good for me, but neither is overheating…

Don’t do it. If you can, call someone to go over there and help, or leave and go for a ride, go to the store, do something to cool off but don’t lift a heavy AC unit at 17w

If you can head somewhere else for the day, I think that is best – don’t want to risk hurting yourself or the baby especially if you are home alone!

Usually I’m one to say “pregnancy isn’t a disability, and you can do anything you put your mind to”, but I’ve lifted AC units when I wasn’t pregnant and they are bulky and heavy and I probably wouldn’t do it myself then, so I definitly wouldn’t do it now!
I wouldn’t be as concerned with injuring your baby as I would be with injuring yourself!
I would go for a stroll at the mall and then maybe sit with a few ice packs to cool yourself at home while you’re waiting for your DH.

No! My husband was breathless after moving one last night and he is a totally fit guy with big arm muscles. They weight A LOT.

I say no since I wouldn’t lift it if I wasn’t pregnant. I know nothing is better than being in your own home but maybe you could go hang out at a coffee shop or bookstore with AC and comfy chairs for a while?

I feel your pain but don’t lift it.
I live in a horribly hot apartment with no reasonable working A/C. My recommendations for cooling down:
– have an extremely cold shower
– wear almost nothing
– point fans at tupperware containers of ice, in your general direction
– hang out with ice packs
– close the blinds

Thank you all for your feedback! I decided against it and went for a drive with the A/C on in the car instead. I actually got a little chilly! Haha! I’ll wait til my man gets home with his big muscular non-pregnant self! 😉
Thanks for the suggestions!!!!!

Go to the supermarket, mall, movie theater, etc to cool down where there is A/C. Don’t try and lift that thing yourself! That’s touch by yourself even when you’re not pregnant!
ETA: saw you went for a drive – great idea!

@BeccaBee83: I did a 200lb deadlift at crossfit yesterday! You can lift things safely if you were able to do it before!

if you have to question it, its probably not a good idea
