I think if you love the dress then you should stop worrying about it. What is done is done and asking as it hasn’t put you in a financial strain then don’t worry about it

I wouldn’t dwell on it. It kinda sucks but your dress is new, the one online is used I’m assuming. Nothing wrong with a used dress but it’s not like you got ripped off by the store. Anyone’s dress would be cheaper used online. It’s just a huge matter of luck if you can find the dress you want in excellent condition and in the perfect size. Think of the “extra” money you spent as covering the costs for piece of mind and hassle free service. The store is handling everything and your dress is guaranteed to be stain and rip free. No potential of dealing with a dress lost in the mail or anything like that. “What if’s” will drive you crazy.

lisaeversman :  it’s the same dress and she’s not regretting the design. She’s regretting buying it new instead of used for cheaper!

Buying used comes with risks. You *maybe* could’ve saved ~$500, IF the seller follows through and was totally honest about the condition. I’ve seen so many used wedding dresses with makeup stains on the inside, scuffs on the bottom of the skirt, rips, etc…even if it cleaned up well, who knows what else happened in that dress? Lol…And even if it’s technically your dress size, they could’ve had it tailored to their personal frame which could make additional alterations extra difficult for you. So many little things…

It’s not worth stewing over. Buying used can be worth it when the savings are big enough, but $500 isn’t all *that* much. You get the benefit of a brand new dress which is 100% your own!

Why don’t you just plan to sell yours online after the wedding to recoup some costs?
It’s beautiful.

This makes me think of the one Bee who bought hers used and then ended up buying it new too because of the damage and alterations required of the dress… be happy that you got yours new and don’t have to worry about any of that – like @kiram said, used dresses comew with risk.
