As my previous threads indicated, I was completely torn between ordering in the new Esme Marie from Maggie Sotteros fall 2014 collection and the dress I fell in love with already, Paloma Blanca 4465. Everyone’s opinion was so helpful and I decided to have the esme marie dress ordered in so I could make my decision and get the possible dress regret out of my head for good.
I tried on Esme Marie, which is basically the same exact dress as the Esme except instead of tulle it’s a full organza skirt. I was pretty annoyed at my salon because they didn’t even iron the skirt before I came in to try it, so it was all wrinkled. From the stock photos of the dres online, I had thought it would be less full/more an A-line than the tulle skirt on the Esme but it was actually the opposite. It is DEFINITELY full ball gown, and I felt it swallowed my frame. I also felt it could come off a bit prom-ish. The side picture below shows how full the dress looked on my frame.
and so.. I tried on my original love, Paloma Blanca 4465. I knew it was the one for sure 🙂 It’s soft, classic looking, and still has a certain drama/uniqueness due to the tiered layers without swallowing my 5’0 frame. Some bees wanted pictures without the veil so I made sure to take some to compare
SO what do you think bees??? Did I make the right choice? Be honest 🙂

Ok honestly, they both look very much alike in shape. They both look like ball gowns except for the ruffles.
I really like the first one better on you with the beading.
They are two different looks though.
I think the first has a wow factor and the second has a sweet country girl look that you seem to have.
On that note, I think both look good on you, so my vote is either.
Pick what YOU feel most beautiful in!!

I agree with you, I love the second one on you! The first one doesn’t really do it for me.

I voted for the Paloma Blanca 4465! They’re both such beautiful dresses, however the Paloma Blanca just looks so much better on your petite frame. The first one with all the tulle looks too bulky on you whereas the different layers and sheerness in the second one makes it look much more flowy and light on you.

You are beautiful, so both dresses look great on you. But, IMO, the esme is the wow dress on you. That bodice with your coloring is just amazing. You look like a goddess.

I like the second one but I would remove the flower. I think it’s a pretty, classic dress.

nicoleylo: Definately! You look genuinely happy in the Paloma, and it’s gorgeous on you!

I really like both… but i think the Paloma is better for all the reasons you stated. I thought the new esme marie wouldnt be as puffy… im a little skeptical of it now… I still want to try it but i see what you mean about the “prom feel”

I accidentally voted for Esme because it was on the bottom, since I thought it correlated with your order of pictures.
The esme top looks really really stiff and the bottom is just a big poof.
The Paloma is so much softer and comfortable looking. Just looks a lot more natural

nicoleylo: I loooove the second dress, but it’s because I am not into the heavy beading on the top one. Both look nice on you, so you won’t go wrong.

nicoleylo: I like them both on you! If you were to go with the Esme, could you have some of the layers of organza removed during alterations to make it more A-line?
I think the Esme stands out more (love the bodice, I didn’t think prom when I saw it) and the Paloma looks more like a typical bridal gown (nothing wrong with that). In the OP it seems like you made your mind up already so I voted for what you seemed to indicate you would be happier with.

nicoleylo: Paloma! It makes you look very elegant vs pageant or prom look. Plus I think the Paloma is kind of more femenine… and I think you look smaller in it! ( not that you are big, but the beaded one seems to have higher waist and swallows aome of your waist, while paloma emphasises it!) I hope it makes sense. You look gorgeous!

AnnaVictoria: thank you:) and it makes perfect sense! I could definitely notice difference in where the waist of the dress laid on me. The esme made me feel more “hippy” because the waist ended and then just poofs out. The paloma felt more gradual and natural

nicoleylo: def the Paloma!! Have u tried it with a blingy belt instead? might up the wow factor

I love the Paloma–but what matters is which one YOU love, and it sounds like the Paloma makes you happiest. Go with it, you look great!
