Just saw a small clip in the paper today that Saks is having a sample sale with designer dresses (Vera Wang and the likes) 70% off until June 10th. No appointment needed. I don’t remember the exact times, but I’m sure you could find it somewhere 🙂

yes – saks is having their sample sale until 6/9. They are actually doing 70% off most of their dresses!

does that apply to online too, or only in the store? what’s their website?

Saks Fifth Avenue doesn’t carry bridal online. I believe they only have bridal salons in their NYC and LA stores? I don’t remember but call the NYC Salon to find out more info.

Yep, Saks closed all of their bridal salons except for LA and NYC locations earlier this year. This must be the overflow stock shipped in from other locations.
Lucky NYC brides!

I hope someone has some luck 🙂 My wedding is over, but it sounds like one heck of a deal!

Hi! I went to the Saks sale this past weekend – just wanted to paste in my review from another related post. Bottom line – I kinda had a bad experience there (mean sales associate), but the deals ARE awesome if you can find a dress you love!
"Hi – just wanted to post my experience about the Saks sample sale, which I attended today.
It was great to try on lots of different dresses, although it was not as fun an experience in the cramped dressing room. The discount that they offered made it worth it though, if you could find something you loved.
I did have one major negative experience though – while most of the dresses I tried weren’t contenders, there was one Vera Wang that was quite nice and in a style I was looking for. I asked a sales consultant about the price (the tag was missing). After a while, she returned with the pricing information. Although it was an *awesome* deal for a beautiful dress, I wasn’t sure if it was the one, and didn’t want to be rushed into it. After I told her I’d pass, she actually said "Let me ask you – why are you shopping now? Why did you come to the sample sale? Why did you come if you weren’t ready to buy? I know what’s going to happen, you’re going to pass this dress up, then decide you want it later, and you won’t be able to find any dress like it and you’ll be disappointed." She basically went on for a while about how I shouldn’t be shopping if I wasn’t ready to buy, and how I just wasted two hours if I wasn’t going to buy (by the way, we were there for an hour – I checked my watch afterward). I was so shocked by basically being lectured about not buying the dress that, unfortunately, this has made me not want to return to Saks again. I know that this was probably just one "bad apple" but I don’t believe a customer should ever be treated like that!
The search continues, but unfortunately, I won’t be returning to Saks."

Was it late in the day when you went? Could have just been getting tired. Sample sales are the busiest times, especially so no appointments are needed. Or she was just at her limits of people not buying dresses because I know the saleswomen have dress sales quotas they need to make each month, and the stress of possibly losing her job could have just gotten to her. Either way, she shouldn’t have done that, but they probably aren’t all like that. Good luck on your dress search 🙂

@Joeswifey It was about 2:30pm – so middle of the day, I guess. I might have just caught her on a bad day/moment, as the consultants at the other 2 places I went to that day were really nice and helpful! Oh well – good luck to you too!

I was at Saks yesterday looking for a little black dress to wear to a friend’s wedding. I stopped by their sample sale as an aside, and WOW. There were at least 500 dresses there. I’ve been looking for the "Starlet" gown by Elizabeth Fillmore, and I knew Saks sold it as I had tried it on there. I was hoping to run into that dress but assumed it’d be gone by then as it’s a very popular style, so I picked out some other gowns to try on… and as I was nearing the end of their racks I found not one but TWO copies of the gown I was looking for. One was marked to $1075, the other to $1895 (retail is $4000+ post tax), and the less expensive one seemed to be in more repairable condition. The sales consultant said that it was likely a mistake but that they’d honor their tagged price. I snapped it up, opened a Saks card, walked away with my dream dress for $1007, and am so thrilled! The dress needs some major TLC cleaning and repairing, and alterations as it’s 3+ sizes too big, but GLEE! There was very little pressure, and it wasn’t crowded AT ALL (maybe 4-5 other girls there) for a Saturday afternoon. I highly recommend visiting the next Saks sample sale to any other bride to be.

Just so you know, the saks bridal sample sale ends today, June 9th! This is the largest bridal sample sale in Saks’ history and will probably be the best deal you will ever find. They have never had this large of selection at 70% off. If you haven’t checked it out yet and you are looking for an amazing deal on a designer wedding dress you must go! It’s on the 4th floor of the Saks NY store towards the back.
I have only had very positive experiences with the bridal associates there…they have been the most knowledgable out the salons I’ve been to and I felt like they really cared to help me make sure I found "the" dress!
Good luck to all!

I went to this sample sale on Friday, June 4. I found my dream dress – Vera Wang Le Notre – and purchased it for $999. It retails for over $13,000!!! I went early, right when it opened and was able to browse all the racks by myself. The saleswoman was very helpful.

All designer gowns are $999, but the sale ends today. 🙁

Saks NYC sample sale started yesterday at 5th ave location.
70%off! Gorgeous! I bought a Vera Wang luxe Joan dress for 1800 which included tax and shipping. Could have gotten it cheaper used, but am 5 9 so needed a long dress.
Yesterday they had about 150 dresses, Vera Wang Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrara, Oscar de la renta to name a few.
Go check it if you are in the area and need distress.
Also went to bridal garden and they had a lot of beautiful Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier dresses. And it’s for a good cause 🙂
Happy wedding g dress shopping!
