While the general rule of thumb is that you don’t tip the business owner, I have two friends who own their own salons – when asked, they always say that tipping is not required but is appreciated.  I always tip them just as I would any other stylist when they perform a service for me.  So I would say that it is up to you – but if you are in doubt, you can always ask the salon owner if it is appropriate to tip her.  There’s nothing wrong with the question.

You should be able to give the whole tip to whomever you pay, indicating that it is to be distributed evenly (or how it is to be distributed).  You can also put the tip in cash in envelopes for each stylist, and hand the envelopes to them individually, or to the salon manager to distribute.
