I’ve seen people who got their rings from Costco, so I don’t see why not?  I would check on their warranty, will they cover any damage such as lost stones, sizing, etc. because those things will ALWAYS come in handy.  If they don’t, find out what your homeowners or renters insurance will cover, that way if something happens to your ring (which does happen, no matter how careful you are) you know you’re covered and not paying out of pocket.  If they’ll cover their stuff, I say go for it if you love it!!

An old boss of mine used to get jewelry from Sam’s and BJ’s all the time…not wedding related stuff but it was always pretty.

@Andr0meda: My fiance purchased my ring at Costco similar to SAM’s. It is a TW of 0.5 carat. G color and VS2 clarity. He got it for about $800. I love my ring and wouldn’t change it for anything. Seen a similar ring in Helzberg but 1 carat TW and it looked smaller than mine and the clarity was not as good as mine for $1600.

@Andr0meda: Thank you…I’m sure yours will be Beautiful as well. I told my fiance Costco was the best bang for your buck. The other rings we were looking at did not have the color or clarity this ring has. I like quality over quantity.

I will say this about Jared, which isn’t anything bad BUT they are a division of Sterling Jeweler’s Inc.  Kay’s, Belden’s, Osterman’s and others are all part of Sterling.  We don’t have a Jared’s here but we do have a Kay’s and a Belden’s and they are interchangable.  The jewelry is the same at either, one will cover the other’s warranty, etc.  Almost every piece of jewelry I own is from one of those two places, and while I love them…I don’t think their stones are super amazing.  I don’t think they’re bad, I’ve seen jewelry stores in the mall with worse quality diamonds, but they’re not always going to be the best quality when it comes to color, clarity, etc.  My sister-in-law got her engagement ring from there, and the stone had a black spot in it that she could see.  She got over it, but she was so upset that a stone as small as hers would have such a noticible spot in it for the price her husband paid.  I’ve had mostly good luck with their stones, but figured I would throw it out there…just because the advertising makes them seem so unique, they aren’t.

I got my set from Sam’s! I think it’s amazing quality for the price we paid. It’s a 1.45 carat total weight bridal set. The quality of mine was just as nice if not better than ANY of the rings we looked at in the case at Gordon’s and it was surprising! This is a pic of the set and the next is a pic of the ering itself. They are an H in color and VS1, purchased for about $2000 (on clearance!)

Here’s my baby!!! She was 1.45 carats total i believe, $1600, the insurance is only 50 bucks at that price range i believe, i did have a few issues with my ring (sams resized it with an outside jewler, which automatically voids the warranty) then a side diamond fell out (easy fix) but SAMS was great about fixing the issue which about a year after purchase there was one store with the same ring so i got a brand new ring! The clarity is I1 i think, pretty low but I can’t tell the difference and that part didnt matter much to me, I get compliments ALL the tiime people think its a 5K ring!!!

So many stores have different markups and pricing ladders. At The Bay here in Canada, I recently saw the same ring that I have, a .20 ct solitaire on 14 kt gold, for $1200. I was shocked. Retail prices online are about half that, and Fiance paid well under that for my ring. I really think it depends on the store. Our Walmart here has terrible jewelry, but Costco is another story.

@sherryberry: I’m in Ontario and The Bay is so marked up!!! I think it’s because they have those 1/2 off sales. I think right now it is close to 30 or 40 percent off all diamond jewellery (or it was this weekend… heard it on the radio).
