Hi, bee.  I have the .50 carat channel set ring that is right below it in yellow gold that I got at Sam’s some ten years ago.  It does not have those slits.  I don’t know what that it.  My ring was in the actual store, so I got to look before purchase.    I will say that my ring is lovely, very well made and the diamonds are good quality.  It was a good price and I have had it checked  by a jeweler several times over the years, and they have always remarked that it is well made and of good quality.

Good luck, bee.

What are you worried about with the slits? It looks like a way to cut out gold, to make the ring cheaper. Many rings have this “hollow” bit. It’s pretty common in inexpensive rings.

It does look hollow in the middle to me. It looks like they have other similar ones on the website, I would probably just go with one of those?

Like pp said, putting the slits is a way to make it cheaper becuase it requires less precious metal to make.  That would not bother me at all (it’s the reason it’s so affordable!) and I do not think it will be fragile at all.  They don’t overdo it.
