You should go to Little Italy then! We did our engagement photos there.  I dubed it our “hip professors” shot and it was all very colorful, vibrant, and edgey.

There are some amazing edgy murals downtown by the Museum of Contemporary Art that you can photograph in front of (they are meant to be public art, even though it is an exhibit sponsored by the MCASD). (I got married in San Diego, even though I live in Boston!).

I think maybe some night life photos downtown with the skyline would look nice.

Rustic maybe the presidio or the mission?or Old Town?

I’m always for the beach and La Jolla Shores.

Edgey- I think UCSD has some interesting outdoor sculptures that might be interesting?

@inamani: I was the same way! Tourist know the city better than I do.  ha!  You can also do a google search of the area and see photos.  or check out your photogs webpage, s/he might have photos from that area so you can see the potential of different backdrops.  Google maps gives you a good idea of that as well.
