Hello all. I’m new to the site but it seems there’s a lot of helpful people here 🙂 I’m hoping to plan a wedding in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles next September but there’s a few problems. First, I currently live in Chicago, IL with my fiance so it will be mostly long distance planning. Secondly, I have a pretty large guest list (at least 250) and a small budget (around $10,000). Any help with venue ideas will be greatly appreciated.

@shayshay8: I am in a similar boat! I am planning my wedding in the San Fernando Valley from San Francisco, so I am doing much of the planning over the phone. Our budget is similar to yours, but we’re only having 100 people. To have a wedding that isn’t totally DIY for that amount of money in LA, you might have to cut your guest list a bit.
If you have a friend who has a nice backyard or other venue you can use for free, that will help tremendously! Venues are insanely expensive in LA. We are having our wedding at one of the cheapest venues we could find, Orcutt Ranch in West Hills: http://www.laparks.org/dos/horticulture/orcuttranch.htm. The only problem with Orcutt Ranch is you have to rent everything (tables, chairs, etc.)
My only other suggestion would be that, if you want to go with an all-inclusive venue (sometimes I wish I had as it would have made long-distance planning a LOT easier), I would try to have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday. I went to a few all-inclusive venues that were 1/3 of the price if you did a Friday or Sunday.
Good luck, and let me know if you find any great vendors!!
