@funkymunky85:  just over 200 a night i believe. not sure when you are going in september, but i think there is a conference happening when we are going to be there (17-24) thats driving up hotel prices

$150 a night is too low a budget for San Francisco unless you find a really good sale; there are precious few hotels in this price range and most of those tend to either be way out by the airport, or in really manky neighborhoods.

The Hilton Union Square is a really nice hotel (but very big and busy) and you can sometimes get a package that includes free breakfast so at least you don’t have to spend on breakfast on top of the room rate.  The problem with Union Square hotels is that some take the definition of “Union Square” rather broadly and you arrive to find yourself in the Tenderloin which has some kind of seedy blocks.

If you look in the Financial District you may find better rates on the weekends. There is a Marriott Courtyard on 2nd Street that often has great rates on weekends, and is in a good location for walking around and getting to all the attractions. Also the Hilton Financial District often has nice weekend sales.

@funkymunky85:  we havent!!! honestly the honeymoon planning is on the backburner with the wedding (haha whoops) but we are going to take a day trip up to wine country,  bike across the golden gate bridge, spend time on fishermans wharf, alcatraz, the mission district, EAT MEXICAN FOOD haha & kinda of see where the city takes us

Last time we went to SF, we stayed at the Omni; it was great!  It’s very family friendly, and they often have package deals or discounts that include rooms, breakfasts, activities, and/or some sort of entertainment for around $200.

I’d also recommend checking Groupon Getaways or Hautelook. I’ve seen some SF hotels pop up over the last few months.

Priceline has always done me well; if you’re looking to book directly; I hosted my BFF’s bachelorette party in Napa/SF. We stayed at the Hilton in the Financial District close to Chinatown and it was pretty cheap; 150 range and it was super close to all the other places.

I stayed at Hotel Vitale for my wedding but I’d recommend searching around for other boutique hotels for great deals. Hyatt on the waterfront usually has some good specials on their websites.
