I place the table to the side of the arch behind the groomsmen. When it is time for the sand I have the groomsmen move the table in front of the guests. The bride and groom turn around to do the sand. Does this help you?

@jlahrue: If you fear that it is possible for an accident to happen. I usually have three guys move the table items. Two groomsmen for the table and then the best man carries the sand items in a basket.

OR

If you only have two groomsmen then have them move the table and then one or both can carry the basket/crate for the sand items and then set the table as you want it.

OR

If you do not have groomsmen then ask two or three people in the grooms family to move the table and set it.

One other thing to consider is the moisture in the air on your wedding day. The sand will clump if it gets too moist. My suggestion is small decanters with corks. This keeps the sand dry until it is time for that part of the ceremony and it looks attractive and easy to pour.
