I’ve heard some pretty bad things about Sandals Carlyle. It’s apparently a pretty small resort, not actually on the beach (you have to walk across a road then through a small development), it’s pretty rowdy, and there’s a lot of people there trying to push drugs. From the reviews we read, it wasn’t worth the savings to stay there.

We’re staying at the Sandals Grande Riviera and were actually able to find a pretty good deal. We were able to upgrade to a Honeymoon Hideaway Luxury Club Level Villa Room for less than the price of a Riviera Bamboo Grove Deluxe room.

@scbride2015:  We stayed at Carlyle. It is really small, but everyone who worked there knew our names and constantly checked on us. We didn’t have a private beach, we had to share it with locals… we loved that part, but some may not. Also, you have access to the other two resorts at all times. The shuttle is always going back and forth! So we would wake up and have breakfast at our place then take the shuttle to the ‘party’ one where we’d do some water activities, have lunch etc, then wed go to the ‘fancy’ one for dinner and to relax at night. The shuttle rides take five minutes. The amount of money we saved was totally worth it and it was awesome to have that intimate feel back at our hotel 🙂

We stayed at Royal Caribbean (the nicest/most expensive of the Montego Bay Sandals Resorts).  From what I know of the others, it has the largest beach, most restaurants and is the only one in Jamaica with a private island (which was beautiful).  Montego Bay in general is great because it is pretty close to the airport, so travel is easy.  There were a few planes a day but they go fast and never bothered us.  Plus the shuttles between the 3 Montego Bay resorts is a great feature.

I know a lot of people who went to different Jamaican Sandals Resorts and Sandals on other islands as well and I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

Ahh…Sunset Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios was the absolute BEST vacation I went on.
