Many years ago (like almost 20) I  went to Sandals Ocho Rios in Jamaica.  The hotel itself and the grounds were beautiful. The food was great.

However, Jamaica itself was not so great. the people were very very poor  and it was painfully obvious. it was really not safe to venture off the resort, and when we did, the staff told us not to wear our wedding rings. Anyone white was ‘fair game’ and we were surrounded by people begging for money.

I’m sure things have changed in the 20 years since I was there, but had I known in advance what to expect I would have gone elsewhere.

i’m pretty sure all of the countries are very poor and  unsafe . We just did jamaica sandals and it was very poor but the people we so nice and no one had any rings stolen granted the only time we left the resort was for excursions and they had shuttles for us.

Check out sandals Barbados and st lucia also 🙂 Barbados is brand new !

courtney906:  they aren’t actually all “unsafe”! It depends on where in the country you travel too! Aruba is actually a place you can go and rent a car and just drive, it’s very nice!

My husband and I just came back from Sandals Royal Carribean! Hands down the GREATEST place I have ever been. It is the resort that they train all their staff at and i swear you will have the best service of your life!! The people treat you like family and we still keep in touch on Facebook! The food is wonderful, the view and water is gorgeous and we had the best room, Kensington cove honeymoon suite! It is such a quiet area and the pool is private to that building! Staff always come by asking if you’d like drinks, my glass was never empty and the staff always remembered your name, didn’t even need to tip!

I never want to visit another sandals resort, SRC felt like home! If you need any info or want to see pictures just let me know!!

I wish I was there right now!

We have booked Sandals in Grenada.  The travel agents I talked to raved about it, and when I saw the infinity pools on the balcony of your room, I was sold.  I can’t wait.

My sister honeymooned there and has not stopped talking about how great it is.  They’re planning another sandles trip for next year and are trying to talk themselves into going to a different one but they loved Antigua so much they keep talking about maybe just going back there lol. She said the food was amazing and it had a great atmosphere.
