Haven’t done Butlered Service at Sandals (but I probably would if I could afford it… IMO Both Sandals & Butlered Sandals are pretty expensive… plus to be truthful, Mr TTR & I aren’t that big on beach vacations where you just sit still in one spot and veg for the most part… we like our Vacations packed with a variety of adventures… sightseeing, history, geography, water activities, food, wine etc)

Have some experience with Butlered Service on a cruise ship… and it was AWESOME

To be honest, Butlers are pretty quick to figure you out, and how much attention you want / need.  They are rarely intrusive… and if they are… then they aren’t doing their job properly !!

Hope this helps,

I haven’t been but did a TON of research on this when we were booking (we’re at Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay). We are the same way, very “do it for ourselves” type people who aren’t used to having every little thing taken care of. From what I gathered, it is worth it. At the very least, you need to get concierge level service to have a bar in your room and room service.

But I didn’t read one negative thing about butler service (even from people who self-described as you and I did), and TONS of people who said the butler service made their trip amazing. I read a few reviews from people in standard rooms who said the butler clients got the best tables/beach chairs/etc too. So we went for it!

Sandals is different from other resorts. Other brands seem to have the same level of service for all, and room price is dependent on view/size. Sandals has so many levels of rooms because of service levels.

I also talked with a couple of travel agents and they said the butler service at Sandals is heads and shoulders above service at any other resort.

I figured if we were going to spend the money, we might as well spend the little extra to get an amazing experience. I hope we love it!

By the way, I’d strongly suggest booking through a travel agent. We used Patty at Totem Travel (found them online, she’s on a different coast than us!), but they have been AMAZING. The cost is exactly the same as booking yourself but their relationships can help you get upgrades, they take care of all the legwork for you, and if the price goes down at all betwee now and when you pay your balance due, they adjust the price for you, no questions asked – so easy. I’ve adjusted twice. With the last adjustment, we actually went UP a room level and still got the price to go down. It has been awesome.

I’m a very “do it myself” person, but I searched everywhere and the travel agency was still able to meet the prices I found, plus I got the awesome service.

I’m not sure about Sandals, but I know my boyfriend and I went to Couples Sans Souci and absolutely loved it! No butler service, but when there are only 150 rooms with 300 guests max, and a ton of staff, you don’t really need butler service. I don’t like crowded beaches or resorts though, so I may be a bit biased.
